September and October Project Updates

The mangoes are ripening, and the country is drying up. We have been busily representing CYWAFA_INC attending several community events. We have started on our East Coast Pond Apple Control and Maintenance. We have had a crew out every week, building on our work we have been doing for over thirty years. Our coastal areas are in much better shape thanks to the continued support we have had over the years. This is very important for our dugong nurseries and our Turtle breeding areas. This is being achieved with resources from the department of Industry, Science and Resources. We have been promoting our work at several community events.

To start it all off we went to the Local Marine Advisory Commitee meeting. We attended the Water Quality Improvement Plan Workshop held at the Shire Hall. Then we participated with Traditional Owners in a Burial and Skeletal Training Session with Professor Lynley Wallis at the Lion’s Hall. Following on we attended the South Cape York Catchments AGM. We have continued with talking with our Annan Endeavour Producers regarding our Queensland Biosecurity Officers visit in October. Finally we attended the Mitchell River Watershed Management Group’s AGM in Dimbulah, along with several online event which helps us to get our messages out there. See photos in the Gallery
